Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
hijackMac is an Apple-product change and price-alert service available at hijackmac.com. References to “hijackMac,” “we,” “us,” or “our” in this policy refer to the operating entity behind this service.

2. What we collect
We collect only what’s needed to run the service:
- Email address — required to send you alerts. Collected when you subscribe.
- Alert criteria — the Apple product(s) you choose to watch and the change types you want to be notified about (e.g. chip update, price drop, new config).
- Phone number (optional, Max tier only) — collected only if you actively opt into SMS alerts. See section 5 for full SMS disclosures.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your card number, CVV, or bank details.
There are no user accounts or passwords on hijackMac. We store a minimal cookie in your browser for your light/dark theme preference. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
3. How we use your information
We use what we collect solely to:
- Send you the alerts you signed up for (via email, and via SMS if you opted in).
- Process and manage your subscription (billing for paid tiers via Stripe).
- Send transactional messages: subscription confirmation, renewal reminders, and one-click unsubscribe links in every email.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that are strictly necessary to operate hijackMac:
- Resend — transactional email delivery. Receives your email address.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid tiers. Receives billing details (we never see your card number).
- Twilio — SMS delivery for Max-tier subscribers who opt in. Receives your phone number only if you have opted into SMS alerts.
- Railway — cloud hosting and infrastructure. Processes data as part of running the application.
Each processor receives only the minimum information required to perform its function and is contractually obligated to protect it.
5. SMS alerts (A2P / CTIA disclosures)
SMS alerts are an optional feature available to Max-tier subscribers. By verifying your phone number and enabling SMS alerts, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from hijackMac at the number you provide, for the sole purpose of delivering the Apple change alerts you requested.
- We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your phone number or SMS opt-in data to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
- Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
- Message frequency varies and depends on when Apple makes changes.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any alert text to opt out at any time.
- Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].
6. Data retention and your rights
Subscriptions are active for one year from sign-up (or payment date for paid tiers). You can manage or delete your alert at any time via the manage link in any email we send you. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link; clicking it immediately removes you from further emails.
To request deletion of your data or ask a question about what we hold, email us at [email protected] and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.
7. Cookies and local storage
We store one item in your browser’s localStorage: your chosen
theme (light or dark). No tracking pixels, no ad-network cookies, no analytics.
8. Children
hijackMac is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify active subscribers by email. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
